The tube has been in there for 5000 miles, so I don't think that was it. I'll show it around. I'm actually thinking about sending it to Continental and see what they say.

I was assuming that the sidewall blew, then the tube was destroyed. Could the tube blow out and take out the sidewall? I have never had a tire fail like that. In fact, I usually wear these tires (Continental Grand Prix 4000) out. These still had plenty of life left, there was a lot of room on the wear divots. I'm guess I must have hit something, but the sidewall looks like it simply exploded--and I know the tires were not over inflated. It sounded like a gunshot when it went.

Joel, More bad tire mojo: about 1/2 mile from home, the sidewall on my rear tire blew out, taking the tube with it.
I had to end up taking off my shoes and socks and barefoot it the rest of the way. Luckily I was going straight, if I would have been in a turn, it could have been ugly..thanks for the ride!
