Aluminum is light
Titanium is tight
But steel is real
In honor of the upcoming Handmade bike show (Mar 2) we will be doing a heavy metal ride to get ourselves in the mood.
Calling all heavy metal riders for a social pace coffee style ride of about 37 miles and a few wee hills. We'll meet at Folsom Bike and hit up WildChicken and/or Trailhead coffee.
If you don't own a heavy metal bike and you want to ride with us, simply apply for a "waiver" and we'll let you in, this "waiver" will exempt you from Carbonbike taxes ;-D
Coffee and danish to the winner of the "Best of Show" metal bike in the ride. So wash down and polish your heavy metal bike and show us what you got.
Here's the route: http://ridewithgps.com/routes/957090
37miles/1800 ft (with corrections) of climbing, easy social pace on the flats of 14-17mph
I have the .tcx file for those Garmin owners who want to download the route to their bike computer.
Kane, I need to check with the judges but the winner will be the one with the heaviest and rustiest death trap bike ;-D
Chuck you are hereby granted a "waiver" for this ride. This waiver is good for the next 30 days upon which time you'll need to go down to the local DMV office and wait in line for 6 hrs to renew your waiver ;-D
Question for you all. Do you all prefer the WildChicken or Trailhead coffee stop?
I like the one farthest from the start. Easy base miles would be nice for a Saturday morning spin.
Fast Eddie is interested, but would have to bring his ball and chain. Does that constitute heavy metal?
I'm thinking about riding. I'd bring my hybrid. While it is an aluminum frame, it is much heavier than my road bike. Do I still need a waiver?
your good to go Kev, your waiver is good for 30 days ;-D
NOTE: Looking at the route a little closer, I notice a couple of anomalies. Little jogs to the right or left that really don't belong there. Make a note of those when you build the cue sheet. It should be pretty obvious.
Hey Rick, i'm gonna need one of those waivers to join in on this ride. I could always fill my water bottles with lead.
Larry, just carry a couple of steel water bottles and you'll be blessed ;-D
I even have some heavy metal, but my slacklining session is at this same time.
Maybe Bess will join you on her Ti bike.
