B57 Auburn to Foresthill the Hard Way w/ Mosquito Ridge kicker

This location is shown only to members

Ride Summary:

Terrain: Roads and you must like hills!

Distance: B57 Speed: NA. You are either going up or down. Plan on a brisk pace.

Climbing: ~5400 ft

Rider Level: SOLID Intermediate and Up

Sweep: No, a few regroups points though.

Meet at Raley's parking lot in Auburn and DEPART BY 10:15 am.

Not much flat terrain here....besides who needs flats terrain when you have scenery like this? We will start out in Auburn at the Raley's shopping center, just as if we were heading up to Foresthill...except we are going to take the hard way. We drop down HWY 49 first to the bottom of the American River, then climb back up Old Foresthill road where it meets Foresthill Rd and continue on up to Foresthill. We will have a short break/regroup at Worton's market. Then we will head a little further into town and drop down Mosquito Ridge Rd all the way down to the bridge, then pay Newton back by climbing right out! We will again regroup and have a short break at Worton's Market before heading back to Auburn on Foresthill all the way back to Raley's.

Here is the route. http://ridewithgps.com/routes/252125 Simple route, no need for cue sheets.  Climbing per Garmin should be in the neighborhood of 5400 ft.

Helmet required. Bring plenty of fluids, snacks, $$$, spare tube/patch kit, pump/CO2, and your climbing legs!

Let me know if you have any questions!

Hi Mica, do you have route sheet riding from Foslom Bike to the starting point? I need extra miles for my DB training. I will go slow and steady speed. Thanks!

I do not. If you are looking for the most direct route, head up Auburn Folsom, turn right on High Street, then left on Lincoln Way. That will add another 1,500 ft of climbing on top of the 5,000+ ft we will climb from Auburn.

Sorry guys, I changed my mind due to my knee problems. No more hard climbing now and will make it next time if any.

Hey Mica, if you're still going with one sign up let me know. Otherwise, there's FDLT+Connector if you'd rather do that.

Alireza, I can't say yet as I haven't ridden with you enough to know (I think only once before).

Rex, if no one else is signed up by tonight we could do that if you want. I'm game for either as I haven't MTBed in a while. But I'm also fine with riding with just you. Let me know if you are leaning one way or the other.

Well, the day wasn't perfect with 2 flats and 2 broken spokes that ended Griff's day. But we had great weather! Thanks for the company guys.

What a nice day for a great ride. Awesome route! Got 57miles with 5748 ft. climb. Thanks Mica for posting this. Hope to see more of it soon. And Rod, those chocolate treats were great. Should have caught up with you on the climbs, I could have had more...:-)

Liked this ride and good companions. The weather is just wonderful, and definitely added to the joy; oh and there was the 5800 feet of assent in which to revel. It was serendipitious when Wilson drove by while Rex, Rob, and I were changing my tube, great to see him and very kind of him to stop and offer his pump. Mica gets and A++ with a star, it was an assent to heaven without any devils on the decent.
