All, Kallie, Adrienne and myself will be having pizza at Mary's Pizza kitchen at 3084 Marlow Road, Santa Rosa, CA (about 3 miles from ride start) at about 6:30pm in Friday, if you can join us kewl, just post up here as there isn't a lot of people signed up no point in making a meetup for it or reservations ..we can hang out for a while too for people driving up after work on Friday.
Sonoma County is famous for its scenic backroad cycling, and this century shows you why. In addition to visiting many of the region's premier vineyards, the route winds through redwoods, apple orchards, and shady broadleaf forest. It meanders across meadows sprinkled with wildflowers and climbs over hillsides dotted with eucalyptus, bay, and oak. The 200-K route even visits the magnificent, rugged Sonoma coast. Depending on your route, you'll cross the beautiful Russian River as many as six times. Again, depending on your route, you might pass through as many as seven different vineyard appellations: Russian River Valley, Green Valley, Sonoma Coast, Northern Sonoma, Dry Creek Valley, Alexander Valley, and Chalk Hill.
The three long routes incorporate a lunch stop (with more food than a regular rest stop) in a shady redwood grove at the Warm Springs Dam Visitor Center.
This is considered a moderately easy century...a good choice for those attempting their first 100-miler. It isn't all flat though, and by the time the finish rolls around, even seasoned riders will feel they've earned their after-ride barbecue.
All routes begin and end at Wells Fargo Center for the Arts, three miles north of Santa Rosa on Hwy 101 (see map). The after-ride barbecue will be served there. Parking is available but limited: use our Ride Share Service or ride your bike to start, if possible. There is no overnight camping.
Four route options are available:
35 Miles — Climb: 1200' — Start: 9:00-10:00 AM
100 K — Climb: 1800' — Start:7:30-8:30 AM
100 Miles — Climb: 3300' — Start: 7:00-8:00 AM
200 K — Climb: 4500' — Start: 6:30-7:30 AM

Since I'm torn between attempting my first full century or doing the metric I was looking at the elevation profiles. There is a good sized hill at the front side of the 100 miler. Here are the Strava profiles which seem to be a bit more accurate since ride with gps it's almost double the elevation gain. http://app.strava.com/rides/548313

What the heck, now the forcast is starting to get iffy. There is a chance of raisins in our area, but still just partly cloudy in Santa Rosa and cool, 68 for the high.
Michelle and I will text ya if we can make it around dinner time. Depends how early we leave Sacramento and how traffic is.
Weather looks fine now. Sunny and clear. p.s. when are people planning on starting the 100 miler?
Yeah, the forcast is now 76 degrees & sunny. Not sure when we'll be up, so can't commit to pizza:{, but I might show up for a beer. I'm meeting up with some other friends for about a 7am start to ride the 100 miles. Hope to see you all there.
I think Kallie has been "in training" to be able to get up early enough to make the 7am start ...on another note, anyone thinking about the double metric?
I have an bed at the extended stay hotel. My friend could not make it. It's open in case anyone still needs a place the Friday night.
Excited for the ride although havent been on the bike since last week! Have a friend doing it as well so we will aim for pizza! See y'all tomo!!
I'm so excited, this will be my first attempt at 100 miles. They have a time cut off at the 72 mile mark which I think I should be able to do without too much trouble. I even road in the rain today just to stretch my legs a bit.
I'm down for the double metric that should make my thu-sun total just a little shy of 300 mlies
All, I was looking at the site and noticed this -- Photo ID and the Confirmation E-mail are required to check-in.
@Jav - I'd join you for the 200K, but I'm helping someone else get though the century. BTW, 300 miles? It's bike "Month", not bike "Week":').
Registration is now open for the ride
