Castle Creek Dr & Ridgecrest Wy (map)
26 miles
1300 feet
'B' rated for pace, 'F' for the easy course
NOT SWEPT - we will regroup up at Hazel Crossing & Beal's Point
I am flexible on the start time (an hour either way is fine so propose something that works better for you).
This is a routine mid-week training I have done for years. Most of it is on the bike path and features some good, short, bursty climbs and a good pace for a good 90-minute workout. I used to ride clockwise around the lake but have changed to stay on the N side of the lake for an out-back due to safety concerns (the S side of the lake is dangerous with packs of 3 or more riders). What better way to break a sweat!
As usual, you must be self-supporting (tubes, food, etc.). The route has plenty of water.
The start is at the corner of Castle Creek Drive & Old Auburn in Roseville. Email me for how to get in the gate if you would like to park or meet at my home which is 200 yards from that corner. The meetup start map shows the meetup point slightly to the East of the actual location.
Bad weather cancels.
24-28, depending on who's leading the pace line, how many attacks are occurring and whether we just came off a hill or are approaching one. Since flat does not really exist where we ride, it is somewhat hard to gauge. A good comparison is the Tuesday night night rides that Jeff S leads - pace is very similar to that.
We have been inching up towards 20mph average over the 27.5 miles we ride and that includes all hills (a few 20% bursts), "slow" parts and all other fooling around.
If you have ridden with Sarah, the pace is usually right at her max. Sometimes we drop her in the end.
Take it Sarah...take it! LOL ;-p Brandon, 20 mph total average. Flat pace around 24-28 mph. Slower on uphills of course, but still fast.
Your a brave man, Scott. Wish I was going to be there to see the fireworks...
laughing pretty hard right now. I think I will have some pain administered to me in two short days by one fast female... Donning flak jacket now ;)
@ Charlie, full report please ...I can't make thursday mornings
Oh never mind, I see you won't be there ...someone has to do a full report of the Sarah Smackdown :-D
Hey Jav, I was planning to spend the night in the mts. after my mtb ride tomorrow, but this might be worth returning for:-)
nobody knows just HOW FAST they will go... this Thursday you won't want to miss the premier episode of the reality show, "How Fast Will They Gooooo" !!! No Brakes!!!! Staggart is training in a sweaty Gym in a basement somewhere in California... while Sarah takes a more Zen holistic approach by meditating with hymns of "ommm" and Yoga 3 times a day high on a mountain top somewhere in California. You do NOT want to miss this epic showdown... da da daaaa!!! : )
I have already sold all licensing rights to the broadcast...
Sarah, make today a rest day (no Dailey Method or spin) with some stretching, and a short walk. Try to get the lactic acid out of the legs, and let muscles recover.
hey Kim, I'll be heading up the trail to go to Scott's house, we should meet up on the way. I'll likely leave my house at 7-ish so I have plenty of time to find my way.
Brandon,
Pace is "brisk". We push it hard for most of the way. When we get to the hills, we attack pretty hard. You are welcome to come out and try it out but we do not wait since this is a training ride.
Scott
