D30 - The Camanche Reservoir Loop (Labor Day Special!)

Ride Summary:

Terrain: Rolling hills, gentle climbs
Distance: approx 30 Miles
Rider Level: Advanced Beginners and up (13-14mph in the flat, slower on the hills).
Sweep: Yes

Meet at 7:45 and be ready to roll out at 8am. Parking can be found on the opposite side of the street from Mary's Mini Mart on Liberty Road. Please bring plenty of water as this ride gets rather remote, there are no "services" on this ride!

Special thanks to Daphni for suggesting this route!

This will be a casual paced ride (13-14mph in the flats) through the rolling hills around Camanche Reservoir. This is not a ride for beginners. You should be comfortable climbing up to Beals Point before you attempt this ride. Will stop for regroups along the way.

Route maps and cue sheets can be seen here

As always your helmet is required.

Great route. Just enough climbing to get your attention and beautiful scenery. There is a mini-mart just over 7 miles in - could be a good spot for the first regroup after the initial climbing.

Nice ride! The weather was perfect. Clayton had a flat "early on"....so we ended up "missing" most of the riders...nevertheless, Kay, Clayton, Jeff and Ed were with Daphni and I the whole way...it was a little scary where they were doing road work and we were soooo close to the motor homes speeding down the road.

Congrats to Daph for conquering the hills! Had a nice little group with Daph, Mike, Kay, Adrienne and Clayton. Thanks!

A return to some of the roads from Party Pardee, only with much nicer weather! Great scenery, great company on this Labor Day. Looking forward to doing it again.

Except for the first two miles or rough road, this was a good ride. Nice road for the rest of the time, and easy rollers. I'd like to do this again. Maybe we can divert up to Pardee Dam road and add 7 more miles? Thanks Adrienne!

Adrienne picked a nice route around Camanche Reservoir. Traffic was good until we got on HWY 12 and HWY 88, but no big deal since shoulders were wide enough. Was kind'a cool that the Stockton Bike Club was riding some of the route, too. Another beautiful day on the bike with friends!
