C100/E62/F31 Foxy’s Fall Century

Its that time again! Foxy's is here!

The Davis Bike Club puts on this event every year and it always fills up.

The 100 mile ride will sell out, do not wait to register!

There are 100, 62, & 31 mile events all of which are fully supported.

Course opens at 7am so arrive at 6:30 to check in and get ready. This event is not a typical group ride. Everyone is on their own, this is more to see if there is anyone you want to carpool or bike along side.

Click here to register and get more information about this ride.

If you do the Roseville Chicago Fire, make sure to call and tell them the group size, they'll have to reconfigure tables, there's really only one area where they can put tables together, 80% of their seating is booths. ...I'm "carbing up" for my 30 mile ride w/Kallie at a texas holdm' game @ a friends house ...otta be a roucgh 30 miles for me :-o

Mica - I vote for the Olive Garden by Arden Fair - this may be easier to get to for people from Roseville, West Sac, Elk Grove and Folsom - easy freeway access... just my two cents.... what time where you thinking btw?

Daphni, good points and idea. I was thinking 7 pm cause I don't finish teaching until 6 pm. Plus, traffic dies down after 6:30 pm on the freeways so that should help people getting to there a little easier.

With 58 riders, various start times and 3 distances, we should ID ourselves somehow in order to holler out " Yo! Hammerin Wheels!" as we pass by. Perhaps tie a red ribbon to the seat rail?

If you are serious Jeff, I'll tie a red ribbon - I actually think that's a great idea. You'll be pulling for me in the wind right, so I can look at your red ribbon all day :)

I think we can probably meet around the breakfast or reg table - should be a pretty large group & maybe for folks that are newer & don't know that many folks - just look for a large group & some HW jerseys - white w/red and black I think ... or else connect with some of us to get some physical stats like bike types or clothes...?

Last year everyone met near the tennis courts. It worked out pretty well. They are located on the right side of the parking lot as you exit the Vetran's Center. Looks like you have a few different groups so one meet at 7am and another at 8. Just make sure you are not blocking traffic.

It's probably too late, but I figured I'd ask - does anyone have/know of someone with a 100 mile ride ticket? :)

For the spirited group - let's meet at the tennis courts shortly after 7 a.m. (registration opens at 7), and plan to be rolling when the course opens at 7:30 a.m. Mica wants to try to average 20 mph for the course, so it's going to take a group effort. If people get dropped from the pace line, there will be others to tag on, and we can regroup at rest stops.

I had a great ride today. Thanks Scott, and Joe.for doing this ride with me. Had great fun, especially climbing the hills on the Single Speed. It felt great to drop all the geared bikes on the big hills. I averaged 19 mph, with a 5:31 run time. Not bad for only one gear!--- and only 3 riders in a pace line! Again, thanks Scott, and Joe.

Scott, and Joe. You guys are the Single

Scott, and Joe, you guys are the single speed animals. Not easy to do a ride like this on the flats, and then up the hills. We worked very well together to hammer this ride on a 42x16 gear set. Couldn't have done it with out you. I love being the "Under dog" on a SS. It inspires me to work harder, than when I ride geared. Thanks Buds.

Great ride today. The weather could not have been much better. A good headwind on the final leg back to Davis. I rode with some teamates. I saw a few of you out on the road and a few in the rest stops. I finished in 5:14 with an average of 20.2 mph.

The crash early on sucked (directly in front me, I thought I was next) but when everyone walks away that is good.

Jodi, no, but I did bring my recently purchased Ipod and found that riding with that was both fun and distracting, I probably broke some law in CA by having one earphone in. More than few pics made it to the cutting room floor because of blurriness :-( Happy to contribute tho! Thanks :-)

Had a good time with the Foxy's ride. I took time to finish it. I had to spend about ten hours to complete the ride. This year, I took some friends with me. It was their first time on the century ride and I had to help them from start to finish. Got two flats front and rear from thorns and got the help from Davis SAG team. I was out of spare and they gave me one just to continue my ride. Overall the ride and weather were great. I'll do it again next year.

Great weather (except for the wind), excellent food and support, SAG vehicles and law enforcement very visible throughout. Despite adding on a few miles due to a missed turn, I had a great time. One note to the DBC: next year, please provide cue sheets that can be read while on the bike. ;)

Thanks to Susan,Rex,Greg and Richard for letting me hang with their paceline for as long as I could. I ended up doing the metric over the true century. Legs just weren't goig to handle the hills. Nice to see so many hw's out there.

Awseom ride, missed riding with everyone, but it was for a great reason, getting the hooks of cycling imbeded addiction deeper into my better half :-) ...Kallie and I had a great ride, this was her longest and fastest paced ride to date, hoping to have her join everyone on the 100 mile route next year :-)

Well supported, saw lots of cycling and motor support along the route, lots of clear markers. This was my first road ride out of my area, the route seemed to be on roads that were either lightly traveled or were wide enough for a new cyclist to feel comfortable. I had a great time.

A great "end of season" century. This was more fun than I've had on the bike in a quite a while. (These pacelines helped me shave 45 minutes off my time for last year :) ) Uber-terrific group of riders, both new and familiar. One thing I really appreciate HW groups is that they are always friendly, always look out for each other. And because he's too humble to say it outright, I'll say it for him: Charlie killed it. DBC puts on a fine event, highly recommended.

Started off with Greg, Susan, Mike & Richard pacelining on and off but scattered after 40miles. Briefly encountered Kim and Sharel before the 41mile water break. After 61mile lunch stop, waved goodbye to Ralph and his group to join Jeff, Karen & Jennifer who pulled me to the finish line. I had a great time! HW is a growing family of good people you just want to be around. Thanks everyone. Hope to see you on the next ride.

Hammerin' Wheels was well represented. Alex Chiu and his Folsom Cycle crew were setting a blistering pace off the front. The Mica Marauders fought off every attack on their position, spearheaded by Frank, the gals Cathy and Dee putting in a strong effort, and there the whole ride, Mica with his second wind after a coke at the last rest stop, and setting some strong pulls. Bill hammered at critical times when the group was sagging, and Dave was in and out, but pushed it to the end. With 55 riders out there it was a Tour De Force -great to see so many HW's out there, and so many strong efforts put in.

Loved this ride. Great support, beautiful scenery, perfect weather! I averaged 15.8 mph over the 103 mile course, which I thought was quite respectable. Met lost of nice people and great pacelining practice (thanks Jeff for teaching me about the big chain riing - that was great today). Fun group that we rode with as usual, and some new friends. I'd recommend this ride to anyone1

Great support for this ride. Lot's of police thoughout the ride directing traffic at turns, good rest stops, and food. We hammered the ride today. Ended up with a 19.8 average and 5:29 ride time for the 106 miles! Thanks to Charlie, Frank, Dee, Cathy, and Bill for putting together great pacelines thoughout the day. Lots of FAST FUN! Now time for a nap!

Great sag support. So glad I didn't pirate this ride. I crashed heavily at high speed after just 14 miles, bending front wheel and rear derailleur, twisting handlebars, and denting top tube in 3 places. Aside from road rash (see photo), no way I could continue. After Cathy Armstrong called in my injury to a central dispatcher, sag arrived after 15 minutes with first aid and a ride back. The $60.00 entry was well worth the TLC I received while bleeding away in shock. Think about how awkward you would feel without that bracelet on in this situation. Thanks Cathy for the heads up call. I was too dazed and confused to realize I was done.
