FISH HATCHERY (map)
Ride Summary:
Terrain: Mild hills at 5% grade with a few short sections of 7%
Distance: approx 18 Miles
Rider Level: Intermediate riders and up.
Sweep: No
You should be able to maintain a pace of 17-19 mph for ~15 flat miles on your own if you want to stay with the back of the pack. The pace varies from 19-25+ mph depending on the pace line you ride with.
This biweekly ride will be a fast paced ride designed to build endurance and speed. We'll meet at 5pm and leave at 5:15pm or before if all the Yes RSVPs are present. We'll ride up the Hazel Bridge and take the trail on the north side of Lake Natoma all the way to Beals Point. Once we arrive at Beals we'll read down to the restrooms on the left side of the lot and take a quick break then head back to the Hatchery. We should be back to the hatchery by no later than 6:30.
As a note, the decent from Beals Point all the way down to Negro Bar is a "take it easy zone". There is no need to pass anyone to keep up with the leaders, we will do a rolling regroup if necessary. SINGLE FILE & STAY IN YOUR LANE!
Do not be discouraged if you get dropped on this ride. PLEASE KNOW YOUR LIMITS!
Please bring plenty of water and as always your helmet is required.
If you have any questions please let me know
Hey Craig - you can get a little of both. The ride is designed for you to go as far as you can/want and whoever can hang with you will. There are pace lines to ride in but it is more about pushing yourself out of your comfort zone.
Thanks for the great ride guys, may join in regularly!
Can someone explain the dynamic of this ride? I'm new here so I was curious as to what this ride is about. Is this is an all out attack/sprint ride or do you guys work on controlled pacelining?
I'm thinking about showing up but I would like to know what to expect before hand. :)
