Starting at Maidu Park in Roseville, this moderate paced ride (eg. not a race!) will take a scenic tour of Roseville and Loomis with a nice mix of flats and easy rolling hills and a climb over Sierra College. This route has some of the best local panaramic views, as well as the great palm tree lined roads of Loomis. There's a rest stop at the Wild Chicken coffee shop about half way just before mile 20. Bring a few $$$s to support the local economy!
This is a fairly easy ride, but please come with a road bike. This ride is a step up from the hills at Beals Pt. However, you must be a strong beginner or budding intermediate to be able to do this route. You should be comfortable going up and or have been to Beals at least 4/5 times. You should be comfortable on the hills and be able to maintain 15 to 16mph in the flats without getting severely winded.
This a swept ride. You will not be dropped or left behind. Those that prefer a faster pace can take off, or hang back and enjoy the scenery; your choice!
Please remember to bring plenty of water and sunscreen as this is still summer, even though the temperatures have been lower than normal lately. As always, your helmet is required!
We'll meet at the parking lot in Maidu Park around 7:15am (to beat the heat) and roll at 7:30am SHARP. The park has bathrooms and a drinking fountain.
PLEASE PRINT AND BRING YOUR OWN CUE SHEET AND MAP. You can download them from here:
If you have any questions as to whether this ride is for you please feel free to ask!
@Andy: As you enter from Rocky Ridge, its the parking lot off to the right hand side. If you go to the left, you're more towards the activity centers. Isn't the skate park more over towards the Johnson Ranch Drive side? Anyway, not over there. At 7:15am, it won't be very crowded; look for the gold Jeep Grand Cherokee with a bike rack on the back.
I always carry two bottles. You can never have too much water. I hate running out.
great, thanks for the help! I'll go with two as well.
Two questions:
Are we meeting up in the parking lot near the sports complex/ skate park or further over?
How much water is on this route?(2 or 1 waterbottles :) )
Thanks!
