Ed and I did this ride last Saturday as a recon and enjoyed it so much that we thought we'd lead a group ride. Ride off those BBQ calories! This time we integrate a stop at the Trailhead Coffee and Cycling Lounge - woo hoo!
This ride is not for the faint of heart, but it is a fun beautiful ride! Ridge Road is a tough climb, but a good one to tackle if you've conquered some of the shorter hills recently ... it's like a 2 mile climb, but not that steep (only like 3 steeper sections). Other climbs are Sierra College and English Colony. Total climb for the ride is 3000 - 3500 ft elevation depending whose altimeter or map you read.
I'm classing this ride as a budding intermediate ride because I believe that is the pace I ride (14 - 17 on flats & rollers, slower on hills). Hammer heads can go faster with Ed, however we all will be regrouping and stopping at the refreshment stops. There will be no sweep (unless I'm slower than everyone
), but we will regroup and no one will be left behind!
A map of this ride can be found here. But the elevation and route sheets are wrong:

Standard safety notes apply: Only helmet wearers welcome. Bring water and some gues for in between the two re-fuel stops.
Enjoyable day. Great ride and scenery. Those hills are something I need to work on....but at the end of the ride...who WERE those folks on the grassy knoll?
