Ed and I did this ride last Saturday as a recon and enjoyed it so much that we thought we'd lead a group ride. Ride off those BBQ calories! This time we integrate a stop at the Trailhead Coffee and Cycling Lounge - woo hoo!

This ride is not for the faint of heart, but it is a fun beautiful ride! Ridge Road is a tough climb, but a good one to tackle if you've conquered some of the shorter hills recently ... it's like a 2 mile climb, but not that steep (only like 3 steeper sections). Other climbs are Sierra College and English Colony. Total climb for the ride is 3000 - 3500 ft elevation depending whose altimeter or map you read.

I'm classing this ride as a budding intermediate ride because I believe that is the pace I ride (14 - 17 on flats & rollers, slower on hills). Hammer heads can go faster with Ed, however we all will be regrouping and stopping at the refreshment stops. There will be no sweep (unless I'm slower than everyone tongue), but we will regroup and no one will be left behind!

A map of this ride can be found here. But the elevation and route sheets are wrong:

Standard safety notes apply: Only helmet wearers welcome. Bring water and some gues for in between the two re-fuel stops.

Enjoyable day. Great ride and scenery. Those hills are something I need to work on....but at the end of the ride...who WERE those folks on the grassy knoll?

This is such a fun, beautiful ride! I want to thank all the HW's who made it out today and made my first "ride leader" ride such a success. We were a bit unlucky with some mechanical issues and flats, but that's the way it goes sometimes! Thanks esp to Jeff and Rob for chipping in and fixing flats and chains! The libations on Vic's market lawn were the best! Nice to meet and pedal with new friends.

Excellent ride with a terrific group of people. This was just one of those days that cyclists dread. One wild crash caused by an automotive disk brake pad (sending our ride leader over the bars), at last count 5 flats, one broken chain, etc. If not for the great attitude and helpful nature of the folks on this ride, it could have turned ugly. Through it all, Ed and Jodi did a great job leading the ride.

Thanks Jodi and Ed; this ride was more than expected. Besides the weather being just right; the group was the best. I should have read the route sheet better, I was in heaven going down, down Ridge Road; never had gone down the entire road; didn't read the part about the turn around and going back up it!! I did it and that was fun, too and the beer was the reward.

Great ride, Great people, I think (hope) I might of made some new friends. The after party hit the spot. I have to give props to Jodi and Ed for leading and to the rest of the riders for an Awesome ride. Next time leave the flats at home.

We had our share of technical difficulties (flats, falls, & funky chains)...but it was a GREAT ride....everyone was supportive, the weather was cooperative and lunch at the end was perfect....thanks to Ed and Jodi for leading a great ride!!

Fun ride, good mix of flats and moderate climbs! I had a total blast! Great riding with everyone, and will look for this group again. The after ride made in the shade cool down chat was awesome!

This was a great ride, meeting new and old friends. Unfortuntely, I got flat when going home. I fixed it by myself, wow, first time on my own :=). I was happy not late for church since I am a Sunday school teacher for kids.

This was a challenging ride for those breaking into the intermediate category of riding. Still worthwhile, especially for testing one's own experience level. I couldn't believe all of the tough luck that we had on the ride today with broken chains, flat tires, broken helmets and crank arms coming off- good grief! The two break stops were a good idea and that seemed to energize people for the ride home.
