Marin Century

Kept meening to post this since a while ago and well, I just procrastinted!! This is supposed to be a great route in Marin County, some of the proceeds go to the Norcal High School Mountain Bike Racing League (they are staffing one of the rest stops as well). Jacob and I will be riding it the traditional 100 mile course with a good freind of mine that lives in the area.

More info can be found here: http://www.marincycli...

Does anyone know of the link to the buy/sell/trade registration they mention on their website? I could not find it.

Joan, do you know what rest stop you'll be at? ...I should be at a better "mental place" than the death ride and will make it a point to actually say hi :-) ...Jacob and I will be wearing our white woodcreek high school kits ...I'm sure I'll be drafting Jacob as usual ...so should look pretty much like my profile pic, but on road bikes :-D

Hi Javier, I'll be at a place called Santos Meadows near Muir Beach. It looks like it's the 2nd rest stop. I'll be noting people's times. Hope to see you there!

Rode over this morning with Shawn and one of his friends. Plenty of time to get there, check in, and get a decent start for the metric.

Totally overcast for the 1st half, but not cold. Sunny but with cool air temps for the 2nd half.

Metric had 3 rest/food stops at very well planned distances. Food at the end was delicious, varied, and available in abundance!

My GPS showed 60 miles, just over 4000 ft. But climbs are well spaced, and reasonable. Definitely going next year!

As a personal bonus I was asked to drive one of the SRAM Sag vehicles from Sac to the ride and back :-) Unfortunately it was overcast most of the ride and my camera phone takes crappy pics unles it's sunny so I couldn't take any pics of the ride itself, but I did take pics of the SRAM NRS vehicle :-)

This is the *BEST* organized and staffed century ride I have evern been on, rest stops were stocked with tons of appropriate food, sag vehicles all over the place, post ride meal was phenomenal. What other century is there where there is SRAM nutral race support vehicles with spare bikes and zip 404 wheels in case you break your bike or spoke/wheel!!! I will be doing this ride again next year and highly recommend it!!

I volunteered at this one so I could get the gold ribbon on my jersey and wanted to check out the dbl rte. I don't think I will do the Mt. Tam Double any time soon. Muir Woods Rd was steep, curvy and wet! It's too technical for me. When we left at 10:30 up the Mt. Tam century rte, we saw lots of cars and sandwiched in between them were the Mt Tam Century riders. I think if I did this, it will be the Marin Century not the Mt. Tam. The food at my rest stop was phenomenal (they had figs!!) Maybe I'll do the Marin Century next year.

I started at 7am, rode 103 miles, I think the gain was 6750. I was cold most of the day; but there was warmth after rest stop 4. Challenging; but I ride I will repeat next year.

Top, TOP, ride. Well organized, food & rest stops could not have been better. Rode the metric, and it was perfect. This is the best ride I've done this year. I will be riding it again next year.
