E18 Fish Hatchery to Beals Point Sprint Series (New Start Time!!)

FISH HATCHERY (map)

Selected By: Jeff Sanford

Ride Summary:

Terrain: Mild hills at 5% grade with a few short sections of 7%
Distance: approx 18 Miles
Rider Level: Intermediate riders and up.
Sweep: No

You should be able to maintain a pace of 17-19 mph for ~15 flat miles on your own if you want to stay with the back of the pack. The pace varies from 19-25+ mph depending on the pace line you ride with.

This biweekly ride will be a fast paced ride designed to build endurance and speed. We'll meet at 5pm and leave at 5:15pm or before if all the Yes RSVPs are present. We'll ride up the Hazel Bridge and take the trail on the north side of Lake Natoma all the way to Beals Point. Once we arrive at Beals we'll read down to the restrooms on the left side of the lot and take a quick break then head back to the Hatchery. We should be back to the hatchery by no later than 6:30.

Do not be discouraged if you get dropped on this ride. PLEASE KNOW YOUR LIMITS!

Please bring plenty of water and as always your helmet is required.

If you have any questions please let me know

Great ride tonight, too bad about the flat though mica....I wanted to avenge my loss ;)

Jeff, you need to take a few weeks off the bike. You put the hurt on me tonight with what I'm sure were tired legs from the weekend. Great work.

Well, I'll be back for the canal ride next week if your game! I'll make sure to bring an O2 tank for the break at Jackson, lol.

Eight kumquats, that would be 100 calories, 24g of carbs, 10g of fiber (wow!), and 2g of protein. But, on a sprint ride, that would be stomach cramps. Nice.

the Fast and the Furious. Curt and Jeff (again) blew apart the peloton not long after the start up to Beal's-I couldn't hang. Mr Muscles a.k.a. Doug is wicked on the single speed of his. Rex and I got our animal miles in for sure-didn't get home until 8:50

This was my 1st Beals sprint since the end of summer. Kurt was puttin' on the hurt on the trip up to Beals. I had a 22.2 average until I got a flat just before the Folsom Crossing Bridge 1.5 miles from the break. But at least it gave me a chance to rest my burning lungs from trying to catch Kurt....Thanks Tim for the tube and giving me some company! Looking forward to next weeks run on the canal. See all you speed demons!
