We will meet at the Park & Ride lot in Winters on the corner of Railroad Ave and Main. Take Hwy 128 (Covell Blvd) from Davis; in Winters, turn left at Railroad Ave. We will DEPART by 8:30 am sharp! Please arrive no later than 8:15 am so we can leave on time.

Here is a link to the cue sheet in PDF format.
Elevation gain is about 4300' unless you add the optional out-and-back on Mix Canyon. Except for Cantelow and Mix Canyon most of the climbing is completed in the first 26 miles.
This scenic route cruises up Hwys 128 and 121, visiting such sites as Monticello Dam, Cardiac Hill, Moskowite Corner, Wooden Valley, Gordon Valley and Mankas Corner. We return through Fairfield, Pleasants Valley, Cantelow, and the English Hills area to Winters.
There will be regrouping points for fluids, snacks, and lunch that I will put on the cue sheet. We will stop in Fairfield for lunch at Subway. We will try and place our order in the morning so it will be ready when we all get there. So please answer the RSVP question of what kind of sandwich you want. Please be specific.
Things that are required...Helmet, 2 water bottles or camel back, snacks, $$$ for lunch/fluids, sunscreen, and spare tube/patch kit. You must be comfortable riding on rural roads w/ traffic.
Rain will cancel this event.
E-mail me if you have any questions...
An RSVP is a Social Commitment. Your Hosts and Organizers go to great lengths and often personal expense to make these events fun and enjoyable for you. If you are unable to show up, please update your RSVP a minimum of 2 hours before the start time of the event.
All fixed. Thanks for catching that Jeff. You'd think I'd never done this before ;-p
Javier's bringing the HSers?! Wah wish I could be there for it... :(
Bailing on you now, High school club is going to Boggs Mountain for race #3 preride and tactics planning on Saturday, will make for a ong freaking day between the commute to/from + the actual riding ...so I need to sleep in Sunday ...will be doing my own thing in afternoon now.
Mica and all...route sheets are printed & provided... ready to go. I drove the route last weekend and we are in for a real treat! Wildflowers have gone wild with color, lush green grass, Spanish Moss trees are in their full hairy state...lots of livestock to view along the way...horses, cattle, goats. I stopped at Subway and they are prepared for us in Fairfield. Lots of other places to stop in town too.
Mica.... I will doing just about the same route with the Davis Bike Club. We will be starting at 9am sharp..... I will look for you out there, as we may run into you guys.... Don
Don, you animals have fun chasing us down. At least we will have a half hour head start! ;-p
Hey Mica..... It will be with the DBC race team, so I will be the guy at the back trying desperately to hold on....:)
This will be my first group ride with the Hammeringwheels group and I look forward to it. As I am a "budding intermediate" my hope is I don't slow the group down but as I am very familiar with the Winter's area and the rides there all should be good.
I've decided to forgo the pre-ordering for subs as we should be staggered enough when invading Subway.
Good call on the Subway sandwiches. They may have an extra person on hand since they know we are coming...also other places to eat in town if Subway is not a rider's desire. Since I am sweeping ride I will have a "leave Fairfield by" time established before the ride starts and a phone number at the bottom of the sheet for riders to call me if they are going to be later than the time stated. Not too complicated...I just don't want to be leaving Fairfield with riders in town at another eatery.
BTW...Thanks Mica for leading the Hammerin Wheels side of things...it makes life less complicated ;-)
Forgot to give thanks to Rex for the company most of the way!
Thanks for the great time! Was my first time out with Hammerinwheels- everyone was super friendly and the ride organization was appreciated. Can't wait for the next ride! It made it more fun to have BikeHikers along also.
This is one of the most beautiful rides I had so far. It is also my first 72-mile ride since I rode a few 100K rides only. I made it! Thanks Steve C for riding with me and thanks to Lynn, whom I teamed up. Although we are the last one to get back, we really enjoyed the scenic sites along the way, especially hearing the birds singing at the top of the hills, yelling at me ?Good job! Good job!? Now I am sure I am really for the Party Parade next Saturday. Thanks and hope to do it again.
Thanks Steve for an amazing, leg aching, breath taking, spirtit awakening, out of sight, top of the hill, type of sort of kind of ride. Wee from the beginning to the end, with a few grunts along the way. Cantelow was a breeze, in a challenging sort of way. The greenary of the brush, landscape, lively trees, and splintering grass, carried us into the magical AWE of Winter Wonderland!

Thanks everyone for coming out to Mica's and my ride today. We had a great turnout...42 riders. It was quite a site being at the back and watching 41 riders heading out of Winters...Wish i had my camera...by the way did anyone take pictures to share of their day? Thanks again for coming out all :-)
As a note: the times in the description do not reflect the new start time.
