This is one of the first organized events of the year, and it benefits a good cause:
Community Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired
There is a 25 mile ride (bring your kids?) or a 67 mile Metric Century. The Metric is very mild, so its ideal for anyone that has never experienced an organized event or wants to do their first metric century. I will be doing the ride, but not sweeping it (there is SAG support). Besides SAG support, this event has all of the normal event benefits including bike mechanical support, stocked rest stops, and an after the ride meal.
Visit the website for information about the ride, fees and registration at:

Registration is by mail or online at:
From the ride description:
This is a great ride for road, tandem, mountain, single speed, recumbent, fixed gear and cruiser bikes, the metric (67 miles with 1,300 feet of elevation gain) and quarter (25 miles with 300 feet of elevation gain) century routes begin and end at Linden Elementary School and traverse the quiet back roads of the San Joaquin Valley. Riders must be at least 16 years of age. All riders must sign a waiver upon check in at the event. Check-in will open at 8:30 a.m.; all riders must be on the road by 10:00 a.m. The course will close at 3:00 p.m.; post ride meal service will end at 3:30 p.m.
Fees ($40.00 for the metric century, $35.00 for the quarter century) include pastoral scenery, maps and route sheets, pre‑ride technical support provided by The Bicycle Café–Lodi, California, support and gear (SAG) vehicles, fully stocked rest stops, and a scrumptious post ride meal catered by DeVinci's Delicatessen and Catering Linden. Miles John Photography will capture images of the event, which will be available for purchase.
According to weather.com . . . as of 5pm on Tuesday . . .
60% chance of sun for Saturday. Keep your fingers crossed!
We will be on two Fuji Absolute 1.0 cross bikes. One will have red water proof panniers. We are bringing extra gear for the rain / wind and dry clothes to change out to at the end of the ride. I spent a lot of years in Seattle and the Puget Sound. I've done a 100k completely beginning to the end in the rain. We will just drink more wine when it all over.
Kathy is sick and it's raining like crazy right now (in Rocklin). If you still decide to ride down there, have fun! You're more of a duck than I am! :-)
Linden is near Stockton. Going by Mapquest.com it's an hour and 20 minutes from my house in Rocklin. From Sacramento, it's more like an hour. They want everyone on the road by 10am, so I don't see staying at a hotel. If you leave home by 7:30 or 8:00, you should be there around 9am.
