Beginners Climbing Bootcamp

No location was chosen

Elevation: ~2000 ft total
Distance: ~15 - 35 miles depending on your choice
Skill Level: Beginners to Advance Beginners Only Please
Sweep - Yes - therefore, the limit on the attendees.

Ok, folks. Only for those beginners who want to work on their climbing skills.

I will email the start location to the riders of this event.

For the first part of the bootcamp, we'll head towards Beals point and do some hill repeats on the first climb. I will show you various spin techniques that I learned from Cyclo-climb that you can practice on your own to improve your climbing techniques. We'll do the 6-8 repeat-superspins (depending on the energy of the group) on the first climb on our granny gears and aim for a 2-3 minute climb with about 1-2 min rest in between.

If you still have energy left after the hill repeats, we'll head out of the bike trail via Mountain Oak court and ride to Sierra College for a short climb. We can take a break at the Starbucks Coffee Shop at the corner of Rocklin and Sierra College before heading back to the bike trail via Barton. We'll take on Oak Hill on the way back to Beals Pt. Don't forget the Hazel Bridge short climb too on the way back to the Hatchery.

For those who are too tired to do the second leg, you can go back to the start point pretty easily.

Is that enough climbing for everyone?

Attendance is limited on this event because I want to give a more personalized attention to the riders so if RSVP is full, better luck next time.biggrin

Beginners or Advanced Beginners only please.

You should be familiar with your gears and not afraid to ride on the streets.

Helmets are required. Please bring water and snacks.

If rain cancels the ride, I'll reserve everyone's spot when I reschedule.

Sounds like a great plan! Beginners definitely should attend this to get off to the right foot! :)

Lourdes imparted a ton of knowledge and I definitely feel better about doing hills! I had to leave early to meet the "Maytag repairman" at the house....who actually showed up 15 mins. BEFORE he was scheduled. It was a good thing I left when I did. I hope there are others scheduled soon!

This is the great training ride for me. Lourdes showed us the climbing techniques. We practiced with six hill repeats. I followed her down the hill and my fear got less and less. I was happy to go down without much fear of crash today. She also shared her experience for long ride. I applied the techniques and felt it was easier to climb the Sierra and Oak hills today comparing to last week. Thanks Lourdes! I am looking forward to having the 2nd, 3rd and more training rides with Lourdes!
