Distance: 30 miles
Pace: Moderate - 14-16 on the flats.
Climbing: About 1500 ft (Sierra College and Oak Hill)
Sweep: NO. We'll set up regroup points.
Skill Level: Advanced Beginner
This ride is intended for those who are ready to ride outside of the bike trail. If you want an introduction to some moderate hills like Sierra College and Oak Hill, then this is the ride for you.
We will meet at Vic's Market at 9:30 and roll out at 9:45 sharp. We will ride through Barton, Sierra College to Horseshoe Bar and take a break at one of my favorite coffee shop - The Flower Farm.
After the break, we'll turn back around and go back to Vic's Market via Val Verde and Barton Rd with a quick and last hill work out at Oak Hill Rd. We'll turn on Auburn Folsom Road back to Oak Ave Parkway.
This route has some nice and easy rollers and country roads.
Please be sure that you can handle the 30 miles and can easily average 15 mph at the bike trail. This is a step up from Beals so make sure you are competent enough to handle Beals Pt. before signing up for this ride.
Please print your own Route Cue Sheet.
As always, helmets are required. Bring food and/or money for the coffee shops.
Rain cancels.
Lourdes, that adds ~ 25mi round-trip?
No Phred, YOU ride a Mountain Bike! Sheeesh. Mary - Phred is picking on me.
33 now - does the Flower Farm know they're going to be invaded?!?
OOOHHH Snap! How did I end up on this ride. Otis, what did you do now?!?!
@ Lourdes - I guess I will sneak one of Otis's bikes out while he is still sleeping. He snores, so he won't hear me open the garage door. :o)
Lourdes tell Otis he should were depends in case the bathroom isn't available.
Can the Flower Farm even seat that many folks at once? (I'm sure their other, non-HW, customers would like a seat too...)
Hey Blaine, I thought those spandex pantelones came with a built in diaper. haha
Greg, same here. Should hit the Sunrise 'Y' ~ 8:00 on the way to Starbucks
Gonna be up enjoying the snow. Happy Birthday Adrienne!
OK, make that 7:50 Greg.
Hey Lourdes. I'll be starting from Gold River. See you there.
Flower Farm should be able to support the size of the group as long as the groups spread themselves out...in other words don't all show up at once...some folks will be standing/sitting outside or walking the "garden" area as other people arrive. You may want to notify them so they have the staff and goodies ready... U don't want them running out of food :-)
WoW, is it possible for Otis and Phred to attend the same ride?
This will be a first.
Actually, if they can scare up a few concrete blocks and some planks, and set them up against the wall, that would be adequate seating for me - as long as my butt's up off the ground, and I have something to lean against, I'm good to go.
Thanks Lourdes and thanks to everyone for welcoming a newbie! Great ride, great group of people with varied skill levels and very organized.
Missed the rendezvous at Vic's on return, and rode from home, but looks like 4,300 ft and 65 miles for me. http://connect.garmin.com/activity/24719358![]()

humm interesting. I am already down as a yes. I guess I no longer need to RSVP for rides. I suspect Lourdes had something to do with that. :0) Did I read that right Kim?????
