C47 "Coffee Shop Series" Chicken Ride with a Twist of Ridge

Vic's Market (map)

Selected By: Mica Dugan

Terrain: close to 4000 ft climb total / moderate & steep hills / rural roads
Distance: 47 miles
Speed: 16+ on Flats
Rider Level: Intermediate
Sweep: No, but we will have regrouping points.
Departure time: 10:00 am

So not to step on Lourdes ride, we will offer a longer and faster paced ride starting from Vic's market taking us further north into Newcastle.

Another great coffee shop to visit is Newcastle Deli and Coffee Shop. In fact we should see about getting a group discount since we frequent them so often!

One of my favorite rides that Lourdes has led in the past.

The hills on this route includes 2 stretches of Sierra College, almost the entire English Colony, to Clark Tunnel, Callison Rd & Ridge Rd. We'll break at the Newcastle Produce and Deli AFTER climbing Ridge Road. It is such a wonderful place to take a break. They offer great coffee, a variety of good pastries, and great sandwiches.

Please bring your helmet, plenty of water, sunscreen, snacks etc.

Any questions, please feel free to email me. Thanks.

Cue Sheet

Please print out a cue sheet prior to the ride.

Fun fun!

Someone remind me to call the deli the day before to see if they will make cinnamon rolls!

I'll be riding from home. If anyone wants to turn this into about 65 miles you can join me leaving from my house near Madison and Dewey.

Roy try clearing your cookies and logging back in. The only thing I can think of is that its losing your log in credentials when you click the link. The cuesheets are only available to members so if you are getting a "not authorized" message it tells me you are not logged in. But you are able to leave comments so there is something not right in the background. So I am clear, are you getting an error message or is it a "broken link".

There seems to be an issue with rights in the files section. Several people are reporting issues. I'm working with Meetup to resolve the issue.

OK, known bug to Meetup, they are "working on it". Whatever that means.

Good you are working with Meetup on this Jeff. Told Mica I thought they were the source of the problem. Good to know it is systemic and not a flakey error. Easier to debug.

So, the weather looks "interesting" Saturday morning. I will make a call on the ride by 8 am should the weather be an issue. If I do make a change, I will just start the ride later as the afternoon looks much better and may include some sun (that thing we have rarely seen this month).

FYI: The Org team is exempt from the permissions issue, unfortunately it hits everyone else. This is Meetup wide due to a new security patch that was implemented on Tuesday night. At the time of this post it is still not working.

Wow, what a great goup of riders! With everyone around the same level it made for a great ride as we were able to ride together, chat, and race eachother to the tops of hills. Will even managed to catch back up to us on Ridge after getting a flat early on. The sun came out when we hit Ridge Road, the roads were dry, and the "Newcastle Produce AND Deli" (that was for Eric, lol) was great as usual. Got the breakfast burrito this time....mmmmmm. All in all a great day.

Thanks, Mica, for another well organized ride. I like this route! It was especially convenient having the meetup location an easy couple mile ride from home. It was a great group of people, "mother nature" kept us dry, and the lunch stop was just what I needed to refuel for the ride back down. Good day!!

Great group! Mica kept the group together as we meanandered through Newcastle and Loomis backroads. Lunch AFTER Ridge road was a pleasant change- nice to be flexible. Met some strong riders and after Ridge road both ways we are all stronger! Great sunny ride

Outstanding group of riders. Perfect day, pace and route. But perfect is just a word. It doesn't mean anything. You had to be there. Thanks Mica. And we really did stop to take pictures on Ridge Rd. Lance's camera has the proof.

This was a really great route, Mica. I had a fun ride, even though Will and I got behind with a flat and I only had time to do Newcastle. Thanks for hosting!
