Winter Hill Series, Ride 6

Hagan Park (map)

Selected By: JoelS

Let's try this again, maybe we'll get lucky with the weather.

Some more of my favorite local hills. Combined together to make an interesting route.

B/58
Distance: ~58 miles, approx 4000 feet.
Terrain: A few hills, some rollers, some steep (14% max)
Ability: Intermediate. If you've done the previous Hill Series Rides, you should be fine.
Speed: 16'ish on flats. Saving energy for the hills. Pace will be moderated on the bike trail, pending traffic.
Sweep: No, but we'll regroup at the top of each hill and at key turns.

You can print a cue sheet from the following: http://ridewithgps.co...

* Use of Aerobars prohibited on these rides (if you have them, don't use them). They are not safe for group rides. If you use aerobars, you will be asked to leave. No questions, no debates.

We're leaving from Hagan Park in Rancho at 9am sharp! That means, we start rolling at 9, be early to get ready.

This ride is NOT SWEPT! If you fall too far behind, we will not wait for you. Make sure to have a cue sheet (you can print out a cue sheet from the route link at the top) and understand the route.

If you RSVP as Maybe, it is assumed a NO unless you change it before the ride.

Rain cancels, showers does not.

Joel, looks like last rides route/cue sheet of Chili Hill is still up. Aren't we heading to Folsom/El Dorado Hills this one?

In light of the revised route, I'll pick up the group near Iron Pt and Prairie City, probably a little after 9:30. No sense riding to the Hatchery only to turn around and come back the same route.

I agree, I need to get out. I am riding down the hill until the rain stops me. I am hoping to make it down to the hatchery, then I'll let the storm base me.

We'll give it a go. Though if it is wet, I'm going to vary the route a little. I don't want to ride down Beatty in the wet. It'll be a bit sketchy.

Joe, we dragged a bit. Dale got a flat and I found a hole in my tire. We ended up detouring to Folsom Bike for some repairs.

Good ride through the classic El Dorado Hills routes. It was not too wet, I didn't even miss the windshield wipers I forgot at home. Thanks Joel for good leadership, and thanks to all, Joe, Jeff, Rex, Joel, for some excellent company.

Fun time. Wet, and cold, we skipped out on Wilson and down Beatty on account of the wet. It would have been a sketchy descent. Good ride today! Here's the data from my Garmin: http://conn...

We started dry with heavy overcast. Drizzled a bit top of Ironpoint. Rained more at Serrano. Downhill from Serrano you start to wish they had windshield wipers on your glasses. Got home and my bike looked like I went on a mountain bike trail. Well not really. Just dirty. Even had sand in my teeth. Other than that, the day went really well. I had a great time. All that just made for an interesting ride.

Great to see that the ride didn't cancel. Got 53mis in today. Needed it after a week of sitting. Back to the game!
