E18 - William B Pond Park to Sunrise and Back - in the Rain and in the Dark

William Pond Park (map)

Selected By: Phred

Yep, we will laugh at the rain. tongue Shortly after the ride starts we will be in the dark so lights are needed.

The distance is approx 18 miles and the pace is in the 15+mph range. The ride never leaves the bike trail and is a simple out and back route. Meaning you can turn around at anytime without fear of getting lost. This will be an easy spin as there are no hills.

We will meet at the drinking fountain/restroom near the bike trail at William Pond Park at 5:15 pm and be ready to go by 5:30pm... a quick break at Sunrise then head on back to WBP.

As always your helmet is required and do not forget your light. It will be raining, so dress accordingly.
If you have any questions please feel free to ask. [masked]

Please note that there is a park entrance fee at William B Pond. There's plenty of street parking outside (on Arden) if you prefer.

As a side note: I will be riding in along the UEDA trail near Elkhorn to the ARBT then up to William Pond; if anyone wants to hook up and ride a few miles more anywhere along the way. Just let me know and will be on the look out for you.

I thought access to WBP was closed after dark - no?

Good point Kay. The park closes at 6:00. So you should park outside the the park (does that sound right?) along Arden. As we will be returning after the park id closed.

The trails intersect near Norhtgate. Best place to meet is where the ARBT crosses Del Paso Blvd. I should be there between 4:30 and 4:40. I suggest you wait under 160 the overpass if it is raining too hard. Cell no. is 747-8651 if you need to contact me. Dark blue jacket, black rain pants, white helmet with light on top, blue Giant bike.

It was wet, it was cold, it was dark, it was windy and it was fun. I am glad I went. Beats sitting at home playing video games. haha

Dark, windy and rainy - which meant we pretty much had the ARBT to ourselves. Neat to see some of the wildlife come out after dark. I'd do it again (as soon as my gear dries out). ;)
