Newcastle/Indian Hill Park n Ride (map)
Ride Summary:
Terrain: Hilly / Busy and country roads / 3000 ft of climbing
Distance: 34 Miles
Speed: 15 - 18 mph on flat terrain and slower on the hills
Rider Level: C34 (Intermediate)
Sweep: No
We will meet at Newcastle Park & Ride off of Hwy 80 at Indian Hill Exit at 9:45 am and leave promptly at 10:00 am. This route goes up some rather steep hills including Shirland Tract and Ridge Rd, so you should be an intermediate hill-climber. We also start climbing early in the route so if you need additional time to warm up please arrive early!
We'll traverse through some fabulous little-traveled roads of Newcastle, including Millertown, and over to Lincoln including Virginiatown. We'll also go DOWN Steve's favorite, Chili Hill Rd.
Maybe after the ride we can have lunch at the Newcastle Deli (if they are open). Maybe I should call ahead and ask them to make cinnamon rolls!
The cue sheets have been uploaded to our files section. Please print one out if you need one.

Ridge Road is fun! But I don't see it on the cue sheet? Bald Hill is quite fun too :)
Oh I see it, oops! I mapped it on ridewithgps: http://ridewithgps.com/routes/24089
- is it supposed to be turn "left" on Fowler @ 26.58mi?
it does say "left" on Fowler. : p I hate MMR sometimes.

If I get out of bed early enough I will be there early to do some warm-ups on Indian Hill and make and saddle adjustments as I'm trying out a new one. Feel free to join.
Forgot to mention Rob came out and rode with us today! So much for Dr. orders huh?! ;-p Oh and Ridge doesn't get easier, just faster.
Warren very sorry to hear that you had an accident today. Scary! Glad you are okay. I had a hollow feeling in my stomach knowing it happened during our ride. Wish I could have been there to help.
Damn, Warren. Looking for an update on the boards.
Thanks all for the warm welcome back. It was good to see everyone from the saddle!
Shaky start, wheels look so THIN! Wet roads, a little fear to get past made for a slow start. But warmed up through the ride. Have to say, Ridge Rd was a challenge. Definitely have lost conditioning and stamina. 11 weeks off can have that affect!
Feel fine. Shoulder is great (better than legs for sure!) Have to say at this point... I'm back! :D
Warren sorry to hear about the accident. There were a couple of incidents with vehicles today. There was the car that nearly careened into the group at the top of Shirland. Jeff S. almost got taken out when a car turned right, in front of him to get into the Safeway parking lot. BRUTAL!
I think the car at the Shirland Tract is the same one that hit me. Blue PT Cruiser.
That same PT grazed the entire group at the top of Shirland and gave us the horn. Lets put our trust in Karma get them and protect each other better next time. Sorry for your scare. Glad you are OK!
Warren, sorry to hear. Is that where you rode ahead while we were on a regroup?Considering where you said you were hit it wouldn't surprise me if it was that PT Cruiser as he was super nasty honking his horn at us, I remember him doing the same to you as he passed you just as you were leaving and you were all the way to the right.
Sorry to hear about what happened Warren :( I remember the PT when we were at the top of Shirland... /sigh.
Mike, Joe, Eric and I ended up going to a different deli (they had chili...?), we didn't know where everyone went. We rode back to Roseville via Taylor. Hope no one was waiting/worried about us!
Yet another great route from the mind of Diane! Happy Bday D! Cue sheets have been uploaded, please print one out if you need one. Giddyup!
