Route: http://ridewithgps.co...
C/50
Distance: ~50 miles, approx 3300 feet.
Terrain: Flats, a couple of hills, some rollers
Ability: Just to intermediate. If you've done any of the rides that head out from Newcastle and include Ridge Rd, you should be fine.
Speed: 16'ish on flats. Saving energy for the hills.
Sweep: No, but we'll regroup at the top of each hill and at key turns.
This is ride 3 of the Winter Hill Series. Ride 4 includes *gulp* going up Beatty.
* Use of Aerobars prohibited on these rides. They are not safe for group rides. If you use aerobars, you will be asked to leave. No questions, no debates.
We leave from the parking lot just outside Hagan Park in Rancho Cordova at 9am sharp. Be a bit early to unpack and get ready. Water bottle, helmet, snacks required. I expect we'll be done by noon or so.
This ride is NOT SWEPT! If you fall too far behind, we will not wait for you. Make sure to have a cue sheet (you can print out a cue sheet from the route link at the top) and understand the route.
If you RSVP as Maybe, it is assumed a NO unless you change it before the ride.
Rain cancels, showers does not.
This will be the starting location of most of the rides in the series.
From 50,
Exit at Mather Field Dr. Head N
RIGHT on Folsom
LEFT on Coloma
LEFT on Chase
PASS the high school on the right.
Just before the park entrance, turn RIGHT into a parking lot.
Hey Joel
The weather guessers say rain Sat afternoon until Sunday morning???
Rick
Weather.com is more optimistic. We'll see what it's doing on Sunday morning.
Wish I could have driven to Hagan Park, but am having car troubles. Going to have to rough it out and meet you guys there @ Fish Hatchery!
I put the fenders on my bike, we might get a few sprinkles or showers in the morning. 30% chance. Still planning to ride. Make sure to check here in the morning before you leave for a final determination.
Looking at this morning's forecast, I don't think we'll be rained on. So let's go ride!
Just looked out my window :-/ I don't like to ride on wet roads - catch you next time

I updated the route with a minor change (ok, I added in a hill). 50 miles, 3276 feet according to the web site where I did the map. It's probably pretty close.
