This biweekly ride will be a fast paced ride designed to build endurance and speed. We'll meet at 4:45 and leave at 5pm or before if all the Yes RSVPs are present. We'll ride up the Hazel Bridge and take the trail on the north side of Lake Natoma all the way to Beals Point. Once we arrive at Beals we'll stop at the top of the hill and take a quick break then head back to the Hatchery. We will not be entering the park. We should be back to the hatchery by no later than 6:30.
Do not be discouraged if you get dropped on this ride. PLEASE KNOW YOUR LIMITS!
Please bring plenty of water and as always your helmet is required.
A light rain will not cancel this ride, but a heavy rain will. I will cancel by no later than 3pm. Please check the calendar before you leave!
If you have any questions please let me know
Any suggestions on an inexpensive yet bright light? I currently have a wimpy head light and a helmet light. Would that be enough you think? Never done a night ride?
Scott you will probably be OK with that but I would look into getting a better light. We get a discount at The HUB so you may want to check them out. I got a 200 Lumen NiteRider from REI with a 20% off coupon. Reg $199 but I have heard other getting slightly less than that for cheaper. (135 Lumen for about $100) One thing I have discovered is that good lights are not cheap, but they sure do make a HUGE difference!
I have ridden in a large pack at night with speeds of 23-26mph. What a rush! Keep close watch over front/rear wheel overlapping. With all the headlights working together it really lights the way. Get the batteries charged! Here we go.....
I have done both helmet and handlebar mount and actually prefer helmet mount over handlebar mount. I find that it's easier for me to see what's coming up ahead with a helmet mount as I can shine the light at the corner coming up, the apex, off the shoulder if I thingk I see a person, animal, obstacle, etc. ...plus there is the bonus of shining the light in peoples eyes at the regroup points ;-)
Working on finding a light set I want, should have them by this ride. NiteRider MiNewt.200 is at the top of my list ATM. But still reviewing.
