FISH HATCHERY (map)
Ride Summary:
Terrain: Mostly flat to gentle rise with one long steep climb up Iron Point Road (At Costco)
Distance: approx 17 Miles
Speed: 16 - 20+ mph in the flat
Rider Level: Intermediate riders and up.
Sweep: No
Please note we may modify this slightly at the time of the ride. The route will stay in tact for the most part but I may call on those with better knowledge of the area for a good spot to rest.
This bi-weekly ride will be a fast paced ride designed to build endurance and speed. We'll meet at 4:45 and leave at 5pm or before if all the Yes RSVPs are present. Please update your RSVP if you cannot make the event. We'll ride .25 miles to the CSUS Aquatic center and take the bike trail over to Iron Point Road at the Folsom Outlets. We will take Iron Point all the way to East Bidwell and then climb the hill near Costco. We'll take a 10 minute break which will start when the last rider arrives, then head back to the Hatchery. We should be back to the hatchery by no later than 6:30.
Do not be discouraged if you get dropped on this ride. The 10 minute break does not start until the last rider arrives at the break point. The idea is to push yourself but please exercise caution, we don't need anyone having any issues because they pushed themselves too hard. PLEASE KNOW YOUR LIMITS!
Please bring plenty of water (there may not be any services at our rest point, there are stores along the route but we are not stopping) and as always your helmet is required.
If you have any questions please let me know
Steve took me a back way to Iron Point from Beals, nice ride. You connect onto Iron Point close to CostCo so it's a quick ride to the top.
I'd be interested in what you come up with Jeff. If you switch off Keifer I'll be there.
Hey Jeff. I rode Hatchery to top of Iron Point (Cost Co Hill) for my first leg this morning. You know my skill level, for me it was 34 minutes for the 8 miles. I went on out Empire/Sophia and up to the top of Beatty, to corner of Katie Way & Powers Dr. That took it to 12.7, and about 1 hour. Might be too long for a 5PM start time ride. Ask Steve about his little tour of the houses right there at the top of Iron Point. That would probably work.
Bring both water bottles today guys... forecast is for 96! And it's almost October!
Please note I may change this route to tackle Iron Point Road. We will still meet in the same spto at the same time.
