This is truly a slow poke's edition. If you don't have strong climbing legs yet, then this is a good place to start. Let's train together. We'll meet at Starbucks at 8:45 and roll at 9:00 SHARP.
If you feel that some of the HW intermediate rides are too hard, too hilly and too fast, then this ride is for you. This ride is a step up from the hills at Beals Pt. However, you must be a strong beginner or budding intermediate to be able to do this route.
There are 4 major climbs to challenge you. Sierra College, Newcastle, Powerhouse & Indian Hill. The route offers 20 plus miles of rolling hills then the rest is downhill. These are small rolling hills but some of them are in the 4 - 8% grades with some 10-11% on Powerhouse Road.
Here is a route map. The cue sheets on ridewithgps website is NOT accurate. Please use the uploaded cue sheet which can be found here
UPDATED CUE SHEETS CAN BE FOUND ON THE LINK ABOVE OR IN OUR HAMMERIN' WHEELS FILES SECTION.
Intermediate and advanced riders are welcome to join us.
Please remember to bring plenty of food and water, and even some sunscreen. As always your helmet is required.
If you have any questions as to whether this ride is for you please feel free to ask!
Coffee break at Starbucks afterwards - optional.
I will cancel early in the morning should rain become a factor.
Another challenging ride with a side of beautiful scenary topped with a group of warm fun loving folks. Thanks Adrienne for leading the ride and thank you Lourdes for uploading the cue sheet.
What a great day for this ride! I rode back to Granite Bay Solo after
realizing what time it was at the top of Indian Hill, I had an appointment I couldn't miss, so thanks to all who rode with through the hills.
Thanks to Adrienne for putting together a lovely conditioning ride. It was nice meeting some new people (esp. Lourdes!) and revisiting some favorite hills. Look forward to meeting up again soon!
OK folks...be patient with me..I will "iron" out the details/directions. I just wanted to get it posted.
